| HISTORY Calvin B. Kennedy founded our company nearly fifty years ago when he left his position as repair and service supervisor at Kerr Machinery Company. With $102.00 in his pocket, he started Kennedy Pump Repair in the back of a pickup truck. With his mechanical genius, dedication and integrity, he soon established Kennedy as a successful pump repair facility, servicing Southeast Michigan. In 1968, he then added a distributor type sales department to compliment the steady growth of the repair facility. Allis Chalmers, ITT-AC Pump, was the first major principal and continued for years as one of Kennedy Industries core principals. The company continued to grow to the point where it became necessary to make the transition to a systemized business operation. A partnership was then established with the addition of long standing friend, Ed Eberle. Ed’s contribution’s included Detroit District Sales Manager for IMO-DeLaval, Inc. and the presidency of a division of Standex International, a conglomerate then located in Massachusetts. Under Ed’s leadership, Kennedy Industries was transformed into the dominate distributor for pumps and valves in the state of Michigan. In the nineties, Kennedy Industries recognized the need for even more growth in the market and invested heavily in new facilities, equipment and personnel. Today this investment has paid large dividends in that Kennedy Industries enjoys a large share of the pump repair business in the Midwest. During this time, the company also realized tremendous growth in its representative and distribution side of the business. Some of this growth has come from the acquisition of ConValco, a company specializing in the sales and distribution of engineered Dezurik valves. Other factors that account for this growth is the ability to attract new principals to represent, such as ITT Flygt, Thermon, Bray and Sulzer Pumps. The new Millennium has been no different than the past for Kennedy Industries. The company continues to grow and prosper. Additional lines have been added to the representative side of the business and in 2007 it was necessary to add a new warehouse to allow room for an ever growing repair business. Last but not least, it is the devoted work force behind the Kennedy name. Owners and seasoned employees together, work as a team which has been an enormous contribution to our growth.
